Resilience in a time of political crises

From the European debt crisis and the Great Recession to security threats and Brexit, numerous events during the past decade have resulted in conflict. These events gave rise to conflicts over solidarity, sovereignty and identity, and rattled the foundations of the EU. In response, EU leaders issued significant institutional changes preventing the collapse of the Union. In this context, the EU-funded SOLID project will test the hypothesis that sequences of policy crisis tend to disorder policymaking, endangering its ability to react, and release turbulent forms of politics and question political legitimacy.
