A synthetic blood surrogate for emergency resuscitation

There are specific guidelines for standard blood transfusion that take into account blood type compatibility, overall health of the donor and the lack of harmful infections. However, these involve time-consuming tests that cause significant delays in emergency situations such as severe trauma, where patients have lost lots of blood and require immediate transfusion.
