Bhopal, June 17 -- Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) on Monday launched a 'Zero Bill' policy ensuring free treatment for the poor and emergency patients.
The scheme covers all medical services-registration, tests, surgeries-for Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders and financially destitute individuals without exception or delay.
Dr Manisha Srivastava, Acting Director, issued the order after Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) approval. The policy aims to relieve thousands unable to afford basic healthcare.
Previously, BPL patients paid a token registration fee and bore costs for tests and procedures. Now, no charges will apply at any stage of treatment.
