New Delhi, July 10 -- A coordinated nationwide strike by over 10 Central trade unions, supported by rural worker organisations and farmer groups, disrupted parts of India on Wednesday, with banking, insurance, postal, and transport services affected in several States. While essential services remained mostly functional, the strike highlighted growing unrest over the Centre's labour reforms and economic policies.
The one-day strike - termed a Bharat Bandh by organisers - was called in protest against the new labour codes, privatisation of public sector units, outsourcing, and job insecurity.
