Indore, June 1 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Indore Metro on Saturday, marking the historic 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar with a tribute to progress.
The inaugural ride began at 12.09 PM from the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Terminal and reached Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Station at 12.20 PM, completing its return trip by 12.34 PM.
Women were the first to board the metro, symbolising empowerment on a day dedicated to honouring the legacy of one of India's most revered female rulers.
The six-kilometre Yellow Line has been designated a "super priority corridor" and aims to ease traffic congestion and reduce pollution in the growing city.
