Lucknow, April 18 -- In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district, a woman and her lover allegedly strangled her husband to death and tried to pass it off as a snakebite by placing a venomous snake near his body, police said on Thursday.
The crime came to light after the post-mortem report revealed that the victim, Amit Kashyap (30), also known as Mickey, died due to asphyxiation and not a snakebite, as initially believed.
According to Circle Officer Abhishek Kumar Patel, the murder took place in Akbarpur Sadat village under the jurisdiction of Behsuma police station. "On Sunday morning, Amit was found dead in his home with a venomous snake lying next to his bed, prompting assumptions of a snakebite death," Patel said.
