India, July 14 -- Despite notable progress in female literacy and higher education, women's participation in the Indian workforce remains alarmingly low. According to the Women Empowerment Principles (WEP), female literacy in India has crossed 77 per cent, and women now account for 48 per cent of higher education enrollment. Yet, the Female Labour Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) stood at just 41.7 per cent in 2023-24 - significantly below the global average. This stark disparity reveals a troubling disconnect between educational attainment and actual employment outcomes.
