BHOPAL, Feb. 3 -- On the occasion of World Wetlands Day on Sunday, a top expert advocated the need for sustainable socio-ecological policies that help preserve these formations, which have been under considerable pressure from a growing population in recent decades.
Professor Surabhi Mehrotra, a member of the National Wetlands Committee (NWC) and a professor at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), emphasises that city planning must take national wetlands into account and that their use should be community-based and wise.
