New Delhi, Feb. 28 -- The Government has been able to free up a huge 372 lakh sq feet space by weeding out millions of old files from its offices and in turn earned a revenue of '1181 crore in the last three years ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the Ministries to do so as part of the massive cleaniliness campaign.

Of the total files weeded out, the maximum number of physical files was weeded out in the Ministry of Home Affairs ( 40500), followed by the Ministry of External Affairs ( 25734) and Ministry of Personnel ( 3363).

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances ( DARPG) report showed that a total 82176 physical files have been weeded out from the Central Government offices during the cleanliness ...
