Ranchi, June 2 -- During the operation being conducted against Maoists in West Singhbhum district, an IED blast took place in Baliba village of Saranda on Sunday, in which a villager was injured. Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan confirmed the incident. The villager had gone to the forest to collect wood, when he came under the grip of IEDs already laid by the Maoists. The injured was admitted to Manoharpur Hospital with the help of police, where his treatment is going on.

The people of Baliba village mainly run their livelihood by collecting Sal leaves and firewood. Police said that Maoists have already planted IEDs in the forests to target the security forces, the brunt of which is now being borne by the common villagers as well.
