Chandigarh, May 26 -- As electricity consumption surges across Punjab ahead of the peak summer season, Vedanta Power's Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) in Mansa has emerged as the state's largest power producer. Located near Banawala village, TSPL is currently operating all three of its units at near-maximum capacity, supplying a total of 1,806 megawatt (MW) against its total capacity of 1,980 MW.

Private thermal power plants in Punjab are now leading the charge in power generation, collectively producing 3,136 MW out of an installed capacity of 3,380 MW. In contrast, state-run plants have generated 1,439 MW from a total capacity of 2,300 MW, highlighting the growing role of the private sector in meeting the state's energy needs.
