Lucknow, Sept. 22 -- The Uttar Pradesh government will increase its own power generation by adding 7,260 megawatt by 2022 through commencement of new thermal power units. Around 1,320 MW of power would be added within this year.

Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma, after reviewing the performance of the UP Thermal Power Generation Corporation, said after the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the state in 2017, efforts were made to increase the power generation and ensure adequate supply of electricity to consumers.
