RAIPUR, March 20 -- Unaccounted cash, liquor and other goods worth more than Rs 2 crore have been seized after the announcement of general elections in Chhattisgarh, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said on Tuesday.

The seizures took place between March 16 and 19 after the model code of conduct was imposed ahead of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19 and 26 and May 7 in Chhattisgarh.

Among other things, Rs 47.55 lakhs in cash, 3,896 litres of liquor worth Rs 8.87 lakhs, 195 kg of narcotics valued at Rs 73.17 lakhs, 840 kg of jewellery worth Rs 51.90 lakhs and other goods worth Rs 21.71 lakhs have been seized.
