RAIPUR, Dec. 2 -- Chhattisgarh Police, with the help of their Haryana counterparts, on Friday succeeded in rescuing two minor girls of Chhattisgarh. The girls, aged between 14 and 16, were rescued from a gurdwara in Panchkula city.

The police have arrested a Panchkula resident who had been hiding in the gurdwara complex after kidnapping the girls from Chhattisgarh, a police official said.

The accused, Jasbir Singh, along with the girls were handed over to the Chhattisgarh Police.

On being questioned, he initially claimed to be Praveen Kumar. The Haryana Police shared the minors' pictures with the Chhattisgarh Police, who confirmed their identity and later reached Panchkula to arrest Jasbir Singh.
