Bhopal, May 19 -- Two separate drowning incidents claimed the lives of an 18-year-old student and a 51-year-old businessman in Bhopal on Sunday, raising urgent concerns about water safety, especially ahead of the monsoon season.

The first incident occurred at Kerwa Dam on Saturday evening. Aman Vishwakarma, an ITI student from Ayodhya Nagar, drowned while swimming with friends. According to Ratibad police, Aman, who could not swim, ignored repeated warnings and jumped into deep water. His friends, also non-swimmers, attempted to rescue him using a cloth but failed. His body was recovered, and postmortem was conducted on Sunday. Aman's father, a factory worker in Mandideep, received the body amid grief and shock.
