India, Sept. 1 -- As expected, the meeting started with a lot of hype. China's President Xi Jinping said, "We (India and China) both shoulder the historical responsibility of improving the wellbeing of our two peoples.. It is the right choice for both countries to be friends. and to have the dragon and the elephant come together."

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi was equally optimistic. He said, "Last year in Kazan, we had very fruitful discussions, which gave a positive direction to our relations. After the disengagement on the border, an atmosphere of peace and stability has been created."
