India, Dec. 1 -- Hondurans began casting ballots Sunday to elect a new president only days after US President Donald Trump intervened in a close race with an endorsement of one candidate and announced that he would pardon a former president. At a voting site in the capital, the country's major parties were present with tables, banners, flags and music, but media far outnumbered potential voters initially. In addition to a new president, voters will elect a new Congress, as well as hundreds of local positions.Hondurans will elect a new president Sunday while still grappling with US Donald Trump's sudden intervention in what was expected to be a close contest, the latest signal of the United States' renewed interest in Latin America.
