These dates have never faded from memory. Today marks 50 years. At that time, I was a student at BHU (Banaras Hindu University). I had graduated and enrolled in postgraduate studies in Economics. One of the reasons for choosing this subject was the presence of brilliant and renowned professors in the Economics Department at BHU. They could explain even the most complex theories in simple, everyday language-connecting global economic principles to household and village life. I wished to study economics and become a teacher in the same field. Back then, our generation considered teachers to be ideal figures. I also felt that if I scored well, I would pursue higher studies in the same subject.
