Bhopal, April 5 -- In a major boost for train travellers in Madhya Pradesh, recovering lost mobile phones has become easier with Indian Railways adopting the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
The Railway Protection Force (RPF), in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications, will now use CEIR nationwide to block and track lost mobile phones during rail journeys.
Initially tested in the North East Frontier Railway, CEIR helped recover numerous lost phones and identify culprits, prompting its rollout across the Indian Railways network.
Passengers can report lost devices through the Rail Madad app, by dialling 139, or by directly lodging a complaint on the CEIR portal-without filing an FIR.
