India, Oct. 10 -- The Supreme Court has delivered a final judgment in the long-standing dispute between Gujarat UrjaVikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) and Essar Power Ltd (EPL), ruling that GUVNL is legally entitled to recover both compensation and reimbursement of fixed charges for electricity wrongfully diverted by EPL.
A Bench comprising Justices Sanjay Kumar and AlokAradhe set aside the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity's (APTEL's) March 2025 order and restored the initial 2009 decision of the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), which had favored GUVNL's claim.
