Chandigarh, April 11 -- / In a shocking incident in Tarn Taran district, a Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh was shot dead while attempting to mediate a violent clash between two groups in Kot Mohammad Khan village. The incident occurred late on Wednesday evening when a police team, led by Sub-Inspector Singh, was dispatched to the village to resolve an escalating dispute. The attack left Charanjit fatally wounded, while Head Constable Harvinder Singh was also injured in the violence. The police have registered a case against 20 individuals, including the village's sarpanch Kuldeep - who owe allegiance to ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
