Jammu, March 13 -- A soldier of the Indian Army deployed along the line of control in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri was hit by a stray bullet fired from across the border after a loud mysterious blast rocked the forward area near Kalsiyan early Wednesday morning.

This is the first incident of cross-border firing in the region after the Brigade commander's level Flag meeting, which took place near Chakan-da-bagh in Poonch, on February 21.

According to official sources, the injured soldier was airlifted to the Udhampur based Command hospital for advanced medical treatment.

Till late evening, no official statement was issued about the circumstances under which the soldier received a bullet injury on the forward post.
