Bhopal, May 6 -- Madhya Pradesh Police has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the increasing number of "love jihad" allegations across the state. The team has been formed to probe claims of religious conversion coerced through sexual assault, with the most recent case emerging from Bhopal where several girls were allegedly targeted by men who concealed their religious identity before assaulting the victims.

The police action follows rising complaints from various districts in Madhya Pradesh about incidents where women, especially from socially vulnerable and weaker sections of society, were allegedly coerced into religious conversions under duress, fear, or deceit.
