India, Nov. 10 -- A six-time MLA from Delhi's Matia Mahal constituency and former AAP MLA, Shoaib Iqbal, on Sunday announced his decision to quit the party after it did not give a ticket to the candidate of his choice for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi bypolls in the Chandni Mahal ward.

Interestingly, his son Aaley Mohammad Iqbal is an MLA from Matia Mahal constituency. Earlier in the day, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced its candidates for the November 30 bypolls to the 12 wards of the MCD.

However, Iqbal said AAP's handling of the MCD bypoll candidate selection had deeply disappointed local workers and supporters. Iqbal said, "I am unhappy with the policies of AAP. The party was born out of a movement, but it has lost its way. ...
