Haridwar, July 15 -- Matri Sadan head Swami Shivanand, who has been raising his voice against illegal mining in the Ganga for a long time, has decided to sit on a protest fast again. He has decided to sit on a hunger strike from August 3.

Shivanand, who had ended his earlier fast on March 29 due to the lockdown, has decided to go on hunger strike from August 3 in support of five demands. He is demanding that all proposed and under-construction hydroelectric projects on Ganga and its tributaries should be stopped. Mining in the Ganga and its tributaries in Haridwar should be completely stopped and stone crushers should also be stopped within a five kilometre range.
