Mumbai, Feb. 13 -- In a major jolt to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), former MLA and influential leader from coastal Konkan region Rajan Salvi on Wednesday resigned from the party and is all set to join the Eknath Shinde-headed Shiv Sena.
In what came to be described as the start of the "Operation Tiger" unleashed by the Shinde Sena to woo the leaders from the Uddhav Sena, Salvi resigned as the deputy leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT). More leaders are expected to desert the Uddhav Sena and switch over to the Shinde Sena in coming weeks.
A three-time MLA, Salvi will join the ruling Shinde Shiv Sena at a function to be held on Thursday.
