Lucknow, July 27 -- All India Shia Personal Law Board urged the Yogi Adityanath Government to reconsider the proposed law on population control after a meeting in Lucknow on Monday, maintaining that a campaign had been launched to malign Muslims on the issue of religious conversion by vested interests.

Presiding over the meeting, Maulana Saayam Mehdi said that the aim of these cases of religious conversion by Muslims was purely to malign the Muslims as it was not possible to forcibly convert any person to Islam.
