Bhopal, March 31 -- Marking the commencement of Eid-ul-Fitr festivities in the state capital, the Dawoodi Bohra community offered prayers at various places on Sunday. Later in the day, Shahr Qazi Mushtaq Ali Nadvi confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, which signifies the start of festivities for Sunni Muslims.

Under Nadvi's leadership, the moon was spotted by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee from the historic Moti Masjid. Confirmations were also received from other parts of the state and country.

On Monday, special prayers will be offered at Eidgahs and mosques. Families will greet each other warmly, exchanging Eid wishes and distributing Fitra and Zakat to the underprivileged.
