New Delhi, Feb. 18 -- The Supreme Court on Monday indicated that it may order a CBI probe into alleged illegal constructions in the busy Chandni Chowk area of Delhi and failure of the MCD to check it.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh expressed its concern and blamed the inaction of officials of Municipal Corporation of Delhi to check the unauthorised constructions in the commercial hub of the city.

"We are inclined to order a CBI investigation into these constructions and involvement of officials in allowing the builders to construct these structures. Builders construct these buildings and you shut your eyes," Justice Surya Kant observed.
