India, Sept. 17 -- The Delhi Government has issued guidelines on street dogs population management, rabies eradication and reduction of human dog conflicts. It mandates registration of pet household dogs with the local body.

It further states, "In each municipal ward, keeping in view the number of dogs and their spatial distribution, appropriate feeding points shall be identified by the RWA and residents. While choosing such points, it must be borne in mind that dogs are territorial by nature, forcing them to move out of their territories causes conflict."

"Animal caregivers must also volunteer their services in the ABC program being run by the local authority for sterilisation and vaccination of dogs," according to the guidelines.
