New Delhi, May 6 -- As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated, Russia made attempts to "offer assistance" to the warring neighbours. While Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a phone call that Russia fully backs India's fight against terrorism and that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack must be brought to justice, a day earlier Putin's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar, offering assistance in facilitating a political settlement to the standoff sparked in the subcontinent.
