Chandigarh/Amritsar, Feb. 15 -- The scheduled arrival of two more planes carrying Indian deportees from the United States has triggered fresh political controversy in the state, with the Punjab Government raising strong objections to the choice of Amritsar as the landing destination. Scheduled to land late Saturday night, the flight is expected to bring back 119 deportees, including 67 from Punjab and 33 from Haryana.

The latest deportation follows the February 5 flight that carried 104 illegal immigrants - including 30 from Punjab, who were shackled and handcuffed upon their return - an image that sparked widespread outrage.
