Bokaro, June 8 -- A rare and complex surgery for Achalasia Cardia was recently conducted by Dr. Chandan Seth, consultant in the ENT department at Medicant Hospital, Bokaro. The patient had been struggling for nearly one and a half years with persistent difficulties in digesting both solid and liquid foods.

Upon evaluation, Dr. Seth diagnosed her with Achalasia Cardia-a rare esophageal motility disorder affecting about 1 in 150,000 people. Often mistaken for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), this condition is characterized by symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, heartburn, chest pain, coughing, belching, weight loss, and vomiting.
