It was the birth anniversary of their favourite and lovable leader, the late Indira Gandhi. On this day, in 2021, the in-power prime minister, Narendra Modi, made a televised announcement that stunned and shocked the nation. In possibly a rare admission of political defeat, he said that the Government, for all practical purposes, had decided to respect street power, farmers' influence, and mass protests.
