Chandigarh, March 13 -- In a decisive move to protect farmers and Punjab's rice industry, the state government is set to launch an online portal to track and regulate paddy seed transactions within a month. The initiative, spearheaded by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian, aims to put an end to the sale of substandard and uncertified seeds that compromise crop yields and disrupt the rice supply chain.

Khudian directed the Agriculture Department to develop the portal swiftly, ensuring that all registered seed producers digitally record seed purchases, sales, and quantities. This will create a transparent and accountable seed supply chain, preventing unscrupulous traders from exploiting farmers.
