Lehragaga, May 12 -- Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal on Sunday clarified that the state's decision to provide additional water to Rajasthan for military use is in the "national interest" and should not be mistaken as compromising the welfare of Punjab's farmers.

"Punjabis have always stood at the forefront of national service. Supplying water to the Army is a patriotic gesture - not a surrender of our rights," Goyal asserted while addressing media in Lehragaga.
