Chandigarh, April 3 -- In a significant escalation of Punjab's war against drugs, state police on Wednesday conducted massive overnight raids across all 28 districts, arresting 59 drug peddlers and recovering 1.6 kg of heroin along with Rs 5.53 lakh in drug money. This marked the 33rdconsecutive day of the State Government's aggressive 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' (War Against Drugs) campaign.
The operation saw over 200 specialized police teams, comprising 1,400 personnel and led by 91 senior officers, conduct simultaneous raids at 497 identified locations.
