India, March 11 -- In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh,' the Punjab Police has arrested Shehnaz Singh alias Shawn Bhinder, an Indian-origin international drug lord wanted by the United State's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), from Ludhiana. The arrest markeda major success for the Punjab Government's intensified efforts to dismantle drug cartels operating in and beyond India.

The state Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, confirming the arrest, said that Bhinder was one of the "most wanted fugitives" in an international narcotics syndicate responsible for smuggling large consignments of cocaine from Colombia into the USA and Canada.
