Chandigarh, April 8 -- In a continued push to eliminate the drug menace from Punjab, the Punjab Police on Monday launched a massive search operation at 225 bus stands across the state as part of the ongoing "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign, now in its 38thday. The operation is aimed at disrupting drug trafficking and apprehend suspects.

Special DGP Law and Order, Arpit Shukla, supervised the operation, with over 200 police teams, including 1200 officers, conducting the search. A total of 2947 individuals were checked at bus stands, with additional raids carried out at 466 locations, leading to the arrest of 38 drug smugglers. Authorities also recovered 2.2 kg of heroin, 1.8 kg of opium, and Rs 17,600 in drug money from the suspects.
