Chandigarh, March 5 -- Chandigarh may witness a massive farmer protest on Wednesday, even as the Punjab Government cracked down on leaders of various farmer unions in midnight raids, detaining them in large numbers. The police raided multiple locations across the State, placing farmer leaders under preventive custody in an attempt to thwart the demonstration.

Taking a tough stance, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made it clear that Punjab "won't be held for ransom", while vowing to maintain law and order. However, farmer leaders remain undeterred, insisting that they will reach Chandigarh with their tractors, irrespective of the hurdles.
