Chandigarh, April 4 -- To check overcrowding during the Rabi season in view of COVID-19 restrictions, Punjab Government is considering the doorstep wheat procurement mechanism.

For the same, the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday asked the State Agriculture and Food Departments to work out the ways to procure wheat grain from within the villages that are located more than one to two kilometers from the mandis.

The Chief Minister, reviewing the Rabi harvesting and marketing arrangements through video conferencing with officials of Agriculture and Food Departments, directed them to minimize the exposure of the farmers during this critical period.
