Chandigarh, May 13 -- / In a major development in the escalating interstate water dispute, the Punjab Government on Monday filed a review petition against the Punjab and Haryana High Court's May 6 order directing the release of water to Haryana. Terming the decision as "legally untenable" and "based on misrepresentation of facts", Punjab has alleged serious procedural lapses and deliberate misinformation by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the Centre. The government's official spokesperson revealed that the state has categorically challenged the manner in which the May 2 meeting, cited as the basis for the court's order, was portrayed.
