Kochi, March 19 -- The ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)) in Kerala faced a major embarrassment in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attributed the industrial stagnation in the State to rampant militant trade unionism.
"It is the Communist Party of India (Marxist) tradition of Nokku Kooli that led the State backwards while other States made progress in industrialisation. Nokku Kooli is the practice of holding the entrepreneur to ransom demanding wages for no work which have been done by the party affiliated workers," said Nirmala Sitharaman, while replying to a calling attention motion by a Communist Party of India (Marxist) member representing the State.
