New Delhi, April 10 -- Ongoing heat wave and soaring temperatures on Wednesday saw Delhi's power demand clocking 5,462 MW at 3.27 pm; highest ever in the first 9 days of April. It was 5,029 MW on Tuesday. On their part, BSES discoms successfully met the peak power demand in their respective areas. Meanwhile, Delhi is on the cusp of another historic power milestone. According to the State Load Dispatch Centre, after clocking a record power demand of 8,656 MW in 2024, Delhi's peak power demand during the summers of 2025 may clock the 9,000 MW for the first time. Last year, Delhi's peak power demand had crossed 8,000 MW for the first very first time.
