Bhopal, June 16 -- A portion of an under-construction overbridge collapsed in Shivpuri district on Sunday, injuring six labourers. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM near a bus stand and railway level crossing along the Pohri highway.

According to officials, no workers were beneath the collapsed section at the time, which prevented a major disaster. The six injured labourers, who were laying concrete on the bridge, have been hospitalized for treatment. The overbridge is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore.

The Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (MPPWD) had awarded the contract for the bridge's construction to Subham Construction, the firm responsible for the project.
