DALTONGANJ, Feb. 6 -- In a first ever interstate destruction of the cash crop poppy, a contingent of the Palamu police joined hands with Bihar's Rohtas police and devastated a near full grown poppy cultivation worth 20 crores of rupees in the drug market.
Sources said poppy was in full bloom in around 8 bighas of land called Sonedeela of the river Sone. It's an interstate territory notorious for marijuana, illicit wine and illicit guns.
It was the Palamu police that first got a tip off about the poppy.
As the cultivated area falls under Bihar's Rohtas district, SP Rohtas was taken into confidence and a plan was chalked out jointly by the Palamu police (Jharkhand) and Rohtas police (Bihar).
