India, Jan. 14 -- The Delhi Police arrested 854 people and registered 690 FIRs during a 48-hour multi-state operation codenamed 'Gang-Bust 2026', conducted in the run-up to Republic Day celebrations. The operation targeted major and minor crime syndicates with footprints in Delhi and the National Capital Region.
The massive crackdown, carried out from 8 pm on January 9 to 8 pm on January 11, involved raids at more than 4,000 suspected hideouts across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Over 6,500 suspects were rounded up during the exercise, which saw the deployment of more than 9,000 police personnel from district units, the Crime Branch and the Special Cell.
