India, Sept. 12 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, in Varanasi on Thursday. The meeting comes during Dr Ramgoolam's week-long State visit to India from September 9 to September 16.

According to a Government statement the interaction reflects the "special and unique relationship" that continues to flourish between India and Mauritius.

The bilateral talks between the two leaders are expected to focus on strengthening development cooperation, capacity building and maritime collaboration under India's vision for the Indian Ocean Region, known as MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region).
