India, April 29 -- India, France sign Rs 64,000 crore deal for 26 Rafale jets

India and France signed an intergovernmental agreement on Monday for the acquisition of 26 Rafale-Marine fighter jets, valued at approximately Rs 64,000 crore, to bolster the Indian Navy's air power. The deal includes setting up production and maintenance facilities in India, technology transfer for integrating indigenous weapons, and delivery of the jets by 2030. The aircraft, to be deployed on INS Vikrant, will enhance joint capabilities with the Indian Air Force. Signed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu, the pact also covers weapons, spares, and training, marking a major step in Indo-French defence cooperation.
