Lucknow, Feb. 6 -- Over 66 per cent turnout of the voters was recorded by 5 pm in the Milkipur assembly constituency in Ayodhya district where polling was held on Wednesday. The final turnout is likely to be slightly higher as voters were still in the queue when polling ended at 5 pm..
The voting began at 7 am. There are a total 3.70 lakh voters in the constituency.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged "fake voting" and rigging by officials, but senior police officers rejected the charge and said voting was going on peacefully at all polling stations.
According to the Election Commission of India, 60 per cent votes were cast till 3 pm. In the 2022 assembly election, the total turnout was 60 per cent.
